Partners

Owner-managers shaped by complex markets, aligned with long-term partners.

We believe long-term investing requires more than technical skill. It requires alignment of time horizon, judgment, incentives, and temperament. Our partners bring varied experience across public markets, private client portfolios, institutional capital, and complex markets where understanding risk is essential to recognizing opportunity.

Nick Ndiritu

Partner, Chief Investment Officer

Global equities, frontier fixed income, cross-asset investing, and firm strategy

Nick Ndiritu leads Olduvai's investment strategy, with a core focus on global equities and frontier fixed income. He is responsible for shaping the firm's investment approach and supporting Olduvai's Advisory business with portfolio judgment and cross-asset perspective.

At Olduvai, Nick focuses on identifying durable businesses, mispriced risks, and cross-asset opportunities where disciplined research, valuation awareness, and independent judgment can create long-term value.

Nick brings more than 20 years of experience across global capital markets, including public equities, fixed income, currencies, multi-asset portfolios, and investment banking. His investment perspective has been shaped by managing capital through emerging and frontier market cycles.

Before co-founding Olduvai Capital, Nick was a Portfolio Manager at Allan Gray, where he co-managed more than US$1 billion across equity and debt strategies and helped establish and grow the firm's Africa and frontier markets investment capabilities. Earlier in his career, he worked in investment banking at Citi in Johannesburg and London, advising on transactions across African and international markets.

Nick holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BSc in Industrial Engineering, magna cum laude, from Northeastern University in Boston. He is also committed to mentoring and developing investment talent, including through his long-standing role as a visiting speaker at the University of Cape Town, where he leads a seminar on investing in frontier markets.

Craig Bandason

Partner, Portfolio Manager & Investment Solutions

Global equities, consumer insight, and customized investment solutions

Craig Bandason is a co-founder of Olduvai Capital. An equity investor at heart, he is part of the firm's global equities investment team and leads its customized investment solutions within Advisory. He focuses on public equity research, portfolio construction, and bespoke client portfolios, partnering with families, institutions, and long-term capital partners to translate investment objectives, risk constraints, liquidity needs, and governance requirements into portfolios tailored to their needs.

Craig began his career as a consumer analyst covering retail and consumer businesses across African markets, an apprenticeship in how households spend, trade up, and adopt new products. That grounding still shapes how he invests: mapping the consumer, following affordability, and telling the story of a business clearly enough that the opportunity becomes visible. For Craig, the craft of investing is making complex businesses understandable, so clients can see both opportunity and risk more clearly.

He brings more than 20 years of experience across African, emerging, and global public equities, responsible investment, and long-term portfolio management. Before co-founding Olduvai Capital, Craig was a Director and Portfolio Manager at Imara Asset Management, where he managed more than US$380 million and led the firm's responsible investment approach to an A rating in the UN PRI assessment. He previously co-founded Kura Capital, growing the firm to approximately US$120 million in assets under management; its flagship fund won consecutive awards as the best-performing Africa fund in 2012 and 2013. Earlier in his career, he was an investment analyst at Peregrine Capital.

Craig holds a Bachelor of Business Science Honours degree from the University of Cape Town and is a CFA charterholder.

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Craig is passionate about sport and its power to build resilience and community. He represented Zimbabwe at under-18 rugby and served a full board term as a director of School of Hard Knocks, a non-profit that uses sport and counselling to support young people's mental and physical well-being.
